Yay!! I used the snipping tool again!! I figured it would be easier for everyone to see my results as I did rather than typing them in a sentence. According to my results, I am a multimodal learner. This really isn't a surprise to me. I learn better by someone showing me what I need to do. Also, I would rather give verbal directions, interesting huh?!
Most of the students I have in high school are visual learners, some kinesthetic. At the beginning of every year my students complete a survey similar to this one. However, they can determine their style of learning based on their answers and use a chart to color in learning style. It is a great tool for me to use through out the year!
If you want to know what your learning style is take the survey yourself!
I think it is interesting to learn that most people are multimodal learners. I must say though that I agree with that. A lot of my answers depended on what was being learned. For example, when it comes to giving directions, I would rather just say them to someone. However, in the classroom I need to see the concept before I can learn it. Some people may learn numbers by hearing them in a sequence, but can't complete an addition problem without seeing it demonstrated first. Each student learns different, it is because all of us are multimodal learners with an emphasis in different styles.
This activity relates to the #4 standard of ISTE NETS T standards. We are collaborating with each other about our learning styles. Learning styles are so vital in the classroom. We need to do an activity like this to address all the different learning styles that we may encounter in the classroom.
