I used Screencast to create a tutorial on how to set up an account using Blogger. Here is my screencast. It was a lot easier to create than I had originally suspected. Once you have created the video that you want to post, you just simply click on the share button at the bottom of the screen.
You must use Jing to create your screencast. Jing is tool that is set up on your desktop and it found all the way at the top (it's a yellow sun). It allows to capture anything on your computer. For example, the video I created has a captured image of a word document as well as Mozilla Firefox. You can also click on the Jing icon to retrieve all of your history. You may also use Screencast to retrieve your history.
Looking at the ISTE NETS T standards, I would have to say that this activity relates to almost all the standards. The first standard is about using creativity to understand a student's reflection about a concept. A teacher could assign this project after teaching multiple things and it is the student's responsibility to teach it to the class. The 2nd standard is about creating an activity that can relate to different styles of learning. Students can express their learning in different ways using this activity. By doing this activity, students are demonstrating that they are able to communicate information using technology, which is the 3rd standard. Students will also have interaction using technology which is part of standard number four. The fifth standard discusses the leadership involved with using technology. If the students are teaching other students using this tool then they are using leadership skills and incorporating technology.
This is a wonderful tool to use in the classroom!
